Luke 3:23-38 ESV

Genealogies are part of God’s perfect Word to us. They usually serve to make a specific point and are typically geared toward the original audience. In Luke’s gospel, he linked Jesus all the way back to Adam, thus portraying Jesus as the Messiah for all of humankind, not just the Jews. Jesus is not only the Son of David but also the Son of Adam, indeed the last Adam, who stands related to all humankind.

All of us know someone who needs to hear about Jesus. Is it someone you work with? Someone you go to school with? How about a neighbor or a friend? Who in your life needs to hear about the truth of who Jesus is, that He is the Messiah, Lord of all? Write that person’s name on your heart right now.

God has put that person in your life for a special purpose, that you tell him or her about His saving grace. This person is in your mission field. What steps can you take today or this week to have a conversation with your “one” for the purpose of telling them about Jesus? Pray right now for the opportunity to tell your “one” about Jesus as Messiah.
