We are beginning to open our church campus for Sunday School classes beginning August 16. If your class is ready to return to in-person Sunday School at the church, teachers or leaders should contact Tom Farr at 706-884-5631. Classes that are not yet ready to return to campus on Sunday mornings should continue meeting as they have been, either live or virtual.
Not Quite The Same
Although we are restarting Sunday morning Bible study groups, not everything will be the same is it was, but we will work very hard to reset our Bible ministry to be as effective as we can be.
Q&A
Since the current worship schedule is 9:00 and 10:30 Sunday morning, when should my class meet?
Your class can meet any time on Sunday morning as long as it allows time for people to attend worship. For example, your class can meet at 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 9:00, 9:15, 10:15, 10:30, or 11:00. So, you have a great deal of flexibility.
Does my class have to meet on Sunday mornings?
Not at all. Your Bible study can meet anytime. So, if the Sunday morning schedule does not work for your group, or if your group is just not ready to come back to campus yet, you can meet at any time that is best for your group.
Can my class meet in the room we previously used before Covid-19?
Under many circumstances, yes! But due to safe distancing protocols we are practicing, your group might be assigned a different room.
What if a portion of our group is not ready to come back, but most are?
If your class is divided like this, you can do both! Thanks to technology, you can meet in person and continue to stream your class on Zoom (or whatever online meeting platform you have been using).
What are the safety precautions the church expects my group to follow?
Whether you meet on campus or offsite, we ask all groups to follow the church protocols. Basically, we expect all people to maintain safe physical distance (six feet minimum between people not in the same household). Safe distancing is expected in all interior spaces. We also expect attenders to abide by hallway, stairwell, and elevator precautions for everyone’s safety. We highly recommend that all adults wear masks. All classrooms have been marked with new maximum capacity which cannot be exceeded.
Can we serve refreshments?
We all know that food is an amazing part of fellowship. However, for safety reasons, food or drink should not be served in your group, whether on-site or off-site. Participants are welcome to bring their own refreshments. And please do not share.
How long will this current schedule remain in place?
This is one of those questions we don’t have an answer for. Since we were first affected by the pandemic in March, all of our plans have been rather fluid and dynamic. We will need to continue adjusting our schedules and plans as things change. Fortunately, you have been very understanding and patient, and we deeply appreciate you.
Do you have a question we haven’t answered here? Do you have an idea to share?
Let us know! We would love to hear from you.
Thank you for the thoughtful, disciplined approach to this start-up!
We are sure this has been an absolute nightmare to schedule, plan, think creatively, work within fluid boundaries and protocol—we just want our church staff to know how thankful we are for all your hard work and how much we love each of you. Your personal examples of grace and compassion for us the church members is nothing short of exemplifying Jesus! Thanks so much for being patient and kind with us unruly sheep!
