Care & Support

At First Baptist, we are honored to minister to hurting people during life’s most difficult times. For that reason, we have care and support groups like DivorceCare, GriefShare, and Celebrate Recovery. We also make weekly visits to hospitals, provide counseling, and have a benevolence ministry.

Care & Support Groups

Leader: Patti Pimentel, 706-884-5631
Wednesdays 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m in Church Office Library. Join on www.divorcecare.org
DivorceCare’s life-changing support groups guides people on the path of recovery after separation or divorce. Over 1 million people have found comfort and hope through this 13-week, video-based series. Each session is self-contained and a person can join at any time. DivorceCare is a safe place where you’ll find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision-making.

Leaders:  Jeanette Richardson, 706-594-5301; Tom Alvis, 706-594-5242; Cheryl Stone, 706-773-1234.
Wednesdays, 5:30–7:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Join at www.griefshare.org
GriefShare ministers to people who are grieving the death of a loved one or friend through death. Most churches do a wonderful job of caring for grieving people in the immediate days surrounding death. GriefShare is designed to extend ministry into the long months that follow. Each session is self-contained, and you don’t have to attend them in sequence.

Leader: Mary Foerster, Contact Church Office at 706-884-5631
Thursday nights from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Fellowship Hall More info: celebraterecovery.com
Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced ministry that helps people overcome hurts, hang-ups, and habits, and it is based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory. This twelve-step, biblically-based ministry helps us identify and confront the foundational issue in life that have caused harmful and destructive behaviors. All are welcome to come and participate.

Counseling

God-centered, biblical approaches to mental and spiritual health

Our pastors are available to discuss your spiritual needs and questions. Contact any of them to schedule your appointment.

For life struggles, we can recommend and refer qualified and capable Christian counselors. To schedule an appointment, contact the church office (706) 884-5631.

Funerals & Hospital Visits

Help in life’s most serious moments

We are honored to minister to hurting people during life’s most difficult times. Our pastors make visits almost every day of the week, and in emergencies. We depend on you to let us know when someone is need of hospital, nursing home, homebound, or other ministry contact. Call Carol in the church office at 706.884.5631 to let us know of any need.

Benevolence

Assistance when needed most

Through our benevolence ministry, we are able to provide help and assistance when needed. Assistance is evaluated and provided on an individual basis as no situation is identical. Contact the church office at 706.884.5631 for more information if you have a need, or if you would like to support our benevolence ministry through gifts.
