God loves you and wants a relationship with you. Throughout the Bible, there are examples of God establishing relationships with individuals and showing His steadfast love to them. He chose the nation of Israel to reveal himself to them and to the nations around them. He gave them instructions on how to relate to him and to others.
When someone did not follow those instructions or laws, it was called sin. God’s instructions were to offer sacrifices for the forgiveness of sins, for breaking his laws. This offering of sacrifices had to be done over and over again. Then God changed that.
God sent Jesus, who was the Son of God, to die on the cross as the final sacrifice for all sin for all time. When a person believes that Jesus is the Son of God and died for his or her sin, that person becomes a Christ follower. This begins an eternal relationship with the God who loves him or her. The Holy Spirit then begins to work in and through the life of the believer.
If you would like to become a Christ follower, sincerely pray the following:
Lord, I understand that I have sinned and broken your laws. Please forgive me. I understand that I could never be good enough to earn my way to heaven. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died for me on the cross, taking the punishment for all my sins. I commit my life to following Jesus and learning his ways. Thank you for your love for me and your sacrifice for me. Amen.
